Clive Naidoo is somewhere out there, but not in Bloubosrand. The man at the centre of last week’s hilarious cellphone video has gone to ground, leaving his tenants to fend off stalkers and the odd beer bottle.

Naidoo posted cellphone footage of his interaction with one ofJMPD’s finest, only to find that the joke soon turned on him.

Now the family who rent the three-bedroom house he gave as his  address, when confronted by officer Laurencia Shitlhelana, have pleaded to be left alone.

Asking to remain anonymous, Naidoo’s tenant said he was surprised when he heard his address being dished out on the video.‘‘I didn’t think much of it.

Now people have been coming around, every day.

They take photos, throw beer bottles over the fence and scream at us,” he said. Some Tweeps have even posted screen shots  of the house taken off Google maps. ‘‘It’s not comforting seeing our house on social media.

"He added that the sheriff of the court has also since come to the house to deliver a handful of unpaid traffic fines for  Naidoo.

‘‘I think they’re making it personal with him. At the end of the day he was a bit cheeky, and, if he was at the bottom of the pile for his fines, he’s now at the top," said Naidoo’s tenant.

The tenant said Naidoo had called to apologise for giving out their address as soon as he realised that his joke had backfired.

‘‘He’s a cool dude. I’ve never seen an arrogant side to him.”Officer Shitlhelana meanwhile has opted to shun the spotlight after her two minutes of fame.‘‘She just wants to get on with her work.

She doesn’t want to be a celebrity,” said JMPD spokesman Edna Mamonyane.
