Johannesburg Metro Police Department officers (JMPD) were dispatched to the stretch of Johannesburg highway where a naked man was seen walking through peak-hour traffic on Thursday morning. Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar told TMG Digital that he was aware of sightings of the man on the busy M1 and said he believed it could be a “mentally disturbed homeless man” that the JMPD had encountered previously. The naked man piqued curiosity in some and freaked those in a rush to get to work on Thursday morning‚ with some taking to social media. It wasn’t clear if Phumla Mazibu ‏@stilbutterfly was offended or concerned for the man’s safety when she tweeted: “@CityofJoburgZA there is a naked man on the #M1 north before Carr str off ramp. Please inform police”.Most‚ however‚ seemed bummed about being held up on their early-morning commutes.Butterfly ‏@VanUllrich tweeted: “@Kgomotsomeso Naked guy walking on double decker‚ that's why M1 north is crawling. @TrafficSA”‚ as did Bontle Motingoe ‏@Bontle_Mot: The naked man on the M1 North is causing so much traffic.— Bontle Motingoe (@Bontle_Mot) January 14, 2016async This was echoed by Nikhil Shah ‏@Nickster108 - who had also managed post a photo of the streaker - “Butt Naked dude on M1 under the double decker bridge holding up traffic @PigSpotter @Bavita27 @astrolicious”.(Being held up seems to be a bugbear for Shah‚ as he earlier retweeted ‏@SteveStfler’ status: “Sometimes I get road rage from standing in lines.”)While many would have questioned his sanity‚ Agent Provocateur @De_Imperial was – despite getting the highway’s direction wrong - only full of praise: Stark naked man on the M1 South. Birthday suit in the rain. Legend. — Agent Provocateur (@De_Imperial) January 14, 2016async “Stark naked man on the M1 South. Birthday suit in the rain. Legend.”The man’s whereabouts were not known at the time of publication‚ and Minnaar said that the streaker had been evasive when officers had tried to approach him in the past.Minnaar said the man “seems to go into hiding when he sees a Metro car approaching”‚ and "maybe sneaks behind a pillar or something to avoid detection”...
