R15m tik bust at Durban Harbour

Police have seized R15-million worth of tik at the Durban Harbour. Hawks spokesman Captain Simpiwe Mhlongo said police recovered approximately 60 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine also known as tik in an intelligence driven operation conducted by the Hawks‚ South African Revenue Service (SARS) and Durban Harbour members at Durban Container Terminal on Monday.He said the vessel docked into Durban on Friday. The joint team acting on information boarded the vessel on Saturday and found the drugs hidden in the cargo bags mixed with food boxes on Monday.He said the street value of the drugs seized is approximately R15 million.Mhlongo said they were in the process of tracking where the vessel was headed.TMG Digital/Durban Bureau..
