McLaren has confirmed that the hardcore P1 GTR will be revealed at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in concept form. You might have thought the 674kW hyper-car was focussed enough. But apparently, that wasn't the case: according to McLaren the GTR is a response to numerous requests from buyers for a track-focussed version of the car.

It'll go into production in 2015 when the 375th example of the "standard" road car has been completed. And you'll only be offered the chance to buy a GTR if you own the existing P1. Perks will also include invitations to driving events, training and vehicle support.

McLaren says those lucky enough to be in involved in the GTR club will have unprecedented access to the technologies, resources and expertise which have helped develop and train F1 champions. Sounds exciting.

The P1 GTR concept will be unveiled on 15 August. More details will be available then.
