While Kuga smoulders Mustang scores only two stars in Euro NCAP testing

Oh dear, Ford is in the negative media spotlight again. This time with their Mustang that managed to score only two out of five stars in a recent Euro NCAP crash test. According to The Telegraph this makes it the least safe car offered by a mainstream automotive brand since 2012.

Indeed, looking at the official report posted up on the you'll see that the popular pony car scores 72% in adult occupant safety but just 32% for child occupant safety. Pedestrian safety came in at 64%. The test also found that the front driver and passenger airbags were ineffective as they didn't inflate enough on impact.

Rear occupants are at high risk of abdominal injuries due to a lack of seatbelt pretensioners while the design of the rear seats doesn't do much to combat whiplash. Ford has responded to this disappointing showing and has stated that they will address these issues when the Mustang is updated later this year. – Thomas Falkiner
