After saying that they didn't Porsche once again seems to be caring about setting lap times around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. For this weekend they sent out a press release bragging about the fact that their new 911 GT3 is now 12.3-seconds quicker around the infamous 'Green Hell' than its predecessor was.

In pretty much ideal conditions (track temperature was 14-degrees, the air 8-degrees) test driver Lars Kern went out and clocked a time of 7 minutes, 12.7 seconds. Yep, impressively quick. Equally impressive is that the 368kW GT3 in question was a stock-standard car fitted with rear-axle steering, a seven-speed PDK gearbox and Michelin Sport Cup 2 N1 tyres. – Thomas Falkiner
