Pedestrian killed while walking on pavement - by 'runaway' trailer

A man‚ believed to be in his 30s‚ was killed this afternoon when he was crushed by a trailer on Witdeep Road in Germiston.

ER24 paramedics were called to the accident at approximately 13h10.

"It is understood that the trailer had apparently come loose from the waste removal truck.

"The trailer then veered off the road and into the man who had been walking on the sidewalk."

He was declared dead on the scene of the accident.

Local authorities will be launching an investigation into this matter.
