John Steenhuisen is retaliating by blocking people on social media after he was on top of trends lists for not having a qualification beyond Grade 12.

Twitter was abuzz with reactions after media reports that Steenhuisen might be left without a job if the DA decides to adopt a new minimum requirement for its members in public office.

The DA in KZN has put forward a proposal that only those with degrees should be considered for the position of the party’s chief whip. The position is currently held by Steenhuisen.

The matter is still open for discussion in the party and no decision has been reached.

But this didn’t stop speculation about Steenhuisen’s future if the DA were to adopt this policy.

The speculation and reaction may be what prompted Steenhuisen to block tweeps from interacting with him directly.

Many people shared their “you are blocked” messages after trying to tag Steenhuisen in their comments.
