A 22-year-old man from Zimbabwe committed suicide after an attempt to poison his allegedly promiscuous girlfriend did not go according to plan.

According to myzimbabwe.co.zw, Bright Chawatama drank cyanide after hearing that police were looking for him for attempting to kill his girlfriend, Leticia Maname and her friend.

Chawatama accused Maname of fleecing and cheating on him. He then invited Maname and her friend for a drink and allegedly spiked their soft drinks with cyanide.

He then disappeared, leaving the women to drink the poisoned drinks. But Maname and her friend decided to buy themselves beer instead and threw out the soft drinks.

Chawatama then sent Maname a text message informing her that he had fixed her by poisoning their soft drinks with cyanide.

The two women then went to report the matter with police.
