What superior functionality will it have? No idea, but it’s being created with the power of friendship, so that’s something.

The next gen HP Virtual Reality HMD (catchy title) is a collaboration project between Valve and Microsoft and claims that it will deliver “a more immersive, comfortable and compatible experience than the previous generation” (which would be the HP Reverb), if the official Steam page is anything to go by.

It’s the new standard in VR.

They spared no expense.

There’s not much actual information to be had, at the moment, other than the fact that the HP VR headset is “Coming Soon”. You can sign up, on the dedicated HP site, to be notified of when the mysterious new headset will be available to purchase, though.

You’ve got room in your coronapocalypse budget for a new VR headset, right? Unless you just bought a new one so you could play Half-Life: Alyx? Damn.
