Baboons ambushed several Ugandan parliamentarians at Karuma bridge as they were headed to the Lango sub-region according to a report.

Chairman Kenneth Omona led the committee as it travelled from the Bunyoro to Kole district to talk to tobacco farmers and other stakeholders, according to Uganda's New Vision newspaper.

The baboons held the legislators "hostage" at the bridge as they posed for photographs.

They only let the MPs go when they were given an assortment of food including bananas and biscuits according to the report.
