Natural History Museum's ‘Best wildlife photos in the world' come to SA

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition - on loan from the Natural History Museum in London – will have three South African stops on its worldwide tour‚ starting in Cape Town on Tuesday. It opens at the Chavonnes Battery Museum at the V&A Waterfront and features‚ organisers said‚ “over 100 awe-inspiring images‚ from fascinating animal behaviour to breath-taking wild landscapes”.The exhibition – which runs in the Morther City until April 15‚ before moving to Johannesburg in May and Durban later in 2016 – features 13 images by South African entrants.The exhibition was launched in the UK in 1965 and attracted 361 entries; the 2015 edition received over 42000 entries from 96 countries highlighting its enduring appeal.“We are so proud to bring this inspirational exhibition of the best wildlife photos in the world to South Africa for the eighth year running!” said organiser Sophie Dandridge.“It is an incredibly important medium for every age group to be able to experience and engage with our planet's beautiful environment and conservation issues in such a visual way - especially in the heart of a city."A feature of the exhibition will be “Wildlife Wednesdays”‚ which will see “a wildlife photographer presenting their work and inspiring an audience with their stories and photographs from the field”.UK royal Prince Harry and other VIP guests were treated to a private viewing of this year’s exhibition on Sunday night.Tickets available from www.webtickets.co.za...
