Have you ever seen a lion being tossed into the air by a buffalo, flip three times then land on its feet?

Now you have.

Sune Eloff came across the group of lions after they captured a water monitor lizard, she told Latest Sightings.

Three male buffalo in the area noticed the lions and one of the ‘dagga boys’ came charging in. According to Africa Geographic, groups of male buffalo get the name 'dagga boys' from the thick black mud that they like to wallow in - which is also known as 'dagga'.

“To our absolute astonishment, the buffalo proceeded to get his head right under the puzzled lion and somersault him through the air,” Eloff said.

The lion flipped three times in the air - and landed on its feet. Impressive acrobatics aside, it wasn’t going to stick around after that and ran away with its companions.

It's unclear whether the lizard survived.

“I have never seen anything like this in my life and I’ve been a Kruger visitor since the age of two. Definitely a first for me!” Eloff said.
