DAVID Sylvia does not believe in the word "impossible" and loves to play a tough game.

So Sylvia deliberately chose to locate his Wireless-Toys.com store in Johannesburg's Fourways Crossing shopping centre, right next door to his two biggest competitors,Incredible Connection and Hi-Fi Corporation.

He said: "You have to take chances in life because, if you don't, you will not fulfil your dreams. I'm driven, stubborn, and I thrive on competition."

Sylvia's specialised gadget shop stocks the top brands in cameras, cellphones, MP3 players, TVs, toys and sound systems.

"I mandated that suppliers had to train staff for every listed product we have to ensure the best service. People today want more than just a product.

"They research on the Internet and expect a salesman to be able to explain what it does and demonstrate it to them."

Sylvia advises business owners never to burn their bridges and to network for contacts.

"You never know when and how the person you meet today will help you in the future."
