Police have not found the body of a woman whose severed arm was found on a river bank of the Irene Country Club golf estate in Centurion, Gauteng police said.

The search was abandoned after authorities scoured the river from Thembisa to the Centurion lake and found nothing, said Warrant Officer Marinda Swanepoel.

The decomposing left arm, with all its fingers intact, was found last Monday.

It was believed to be a woman's arm because it had small fingers.
