Masters of Rhythm is the latest dance reality show to hit our screens, this one on Dstv's Vuzu channel.

The show started last week with 12 crews determined to show off their skills in various dance styles, including hip- hop, popping, breaking and locking. But, like all dance competitions, there can only be one team who will walk away with the title.

"It's a heart-pumping show that explores the art of dance. Along the way, audiences will learn what role dance plays in the lives of young South Africans. The hosts, Lalla Hirayama and Fred Kayembe, aka Fred Mercury, are believers in the power of dance as a force for positivity," said Nomphelo Ndzimela of Vuzu Channel.

The programme's 13 episodes are aimed at giving viewers a chance to see how hip-hop dance has evolved, and how it has proved to be a positive force in the lives of the youth.

  • 'Masters of Rhythm' airs at 7.30pm on Vuzu tonight
