Residents protest near Lenasia

Residents of Thembelihle, near Lenasia, protested on Monday morning by burning tyres and throwing stones, Johannesburg metro police said.

"We have closed the K43 [Klipspruit Valley road] to traffic because of the protest," spokesman Wayne Minnaar said.

The road was blocked off between Volta Street in Thembelihle and Bangalore Drive in Lenasia.

Motorists were advised to use the Golden Highway as an alternative route.
