Gauteng police are searching for 18 men who robbed the Morula Sun Casino outside Pretoria, of R2 million, a spokesman said on Monday.

Captain Solly Marindi said a cashier who works at the casino was also kidnapped during the robbery on Sunday.

"Five armed men entered the casino at 8:10pm and fired shots into the entertainment area. They were carrying AK47 rifles," he said.

The robbers then made their way to the cashier section, and demanded money.

After collecting R2m, they then kidnapped a male cashier and sped off in a Toyota Hilux. Also on standby were their accomplices in an Audi A4 situated at the gate, a BMW and two Mercedes Benz inside the venue, he said.

"The cashier was then dumped on the side of the road while they drove off in convoy."

No one was injured and police were investigating, he said.
