Two brothers lost their lives on Saturday after their light aircraft crashed at a farm, police said on Saturday.

"They were brothers from Port Elizabeth and it looks like they were doing a practice run from and back to Port Elizabeth when the accident happened," said spokeswoman Warrant Officer Marianette Olivier.

The Cessna 150 aircraft crashed at 9.40am on Saturday at the Fyfergat farm in the Kruisrivier area, killing the 35 and 37-year old brothers.

Olivier said Civil Aviation Authorities members were expected on the scene later in the day to asses the cause of the accident.
