It was sweet revenge for Kaizer Chiefs, who edged Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in an Absa Premiership match at Soccer City last night.

The Brazilians thrashed Chiefs 4-1 in the MTN8 encounter two weeks ago.

What started ominously for the home side ended in a second successive league victory thanks to second-half goals from livewire Siyabonga Nkosi and Kingston Nkhatha.

Sundowns pulled one back - a fortuitous goal by Clayton Daniels - but they had already lost their grip on proceedings after an impressive start.

Nkosi, who played a vital role in both Amakhosi's goals, lifted the game out of the doldrums with an impressive strike six minutes after the interval. The former Bafana Bafana midfielder profited from a fine Bernard Parker pass.

He then drifted deeper into the area with an awesome solo effort before unleashing a low-skidding shot that beat keeper Wayne Sandilands at the far post.

Nkosi found Nkhatha with a header from inside the area and the Zimbabwean headed powerfully, beating a challenge from Daniels to score Chiefs' second goal in the 58th minute.

But Daniels got one back, crashing a shot against the upright. The ball hit Khune in the back while he was picking himself up and rebounded into the net.

Bloemfontein Celtic salvaged maximum points after beating Platinum Stars 2-1 at the Free State stadium last night.

Celtic's goals were scored by Siyabonga Nontshinga and Lennox Bacela, while Benson Mhlongo struck for the visitors.

BidVest Wits and Black Leopards drew 2-2 at Milpark stadium.

Leopards opened the scoring in the 16th-minute when Nkosiyabo Xakana squared for Thomas Madimba to touch into goal.

The Students equalised from Miquel Timm's corner in the 37th, which was headed back across goal by Mbulelo Mabizela where Calvin Kadi nudged in a header.

Wits were 2-1 up in the 44th minute, with Sibusiso Vilakazi heading in from Timm's cross. Speedster Rodney Ramagalela outstripped the Wits defence in the 57th to level the scores.

Moroka Swallows walloped Ajax Cape Town 3-1 at Dobsonville stadium. Katlego Mashego and Siyabonga Nomvethe netted for the home side. Nomvethe scored a brace. Lebogang Manyama scored for the visitors.

Promoted University of Pretoria beat Lamontville Golden Arrows 1-0 at Cedric Sugar Ray Xulu stadium via Mpho Maruping's strike in the 40th minute.

SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates, once again, fought out a goalless stalemate at Peter Mokaba stadium last night. They registered the same score on Sunday in the MTN8 semifinal first leg. The two meet in the second at Orlando stadium on Saturday.
