The teenager accused of murdering three members of the Steenkamp family in April may be out on bail but will not be returning to school.
The Beeld reported that bail of R5000 was granted to the boy in the Griekwastad Children's Court on Monday, but his Bloemfontein school told the newspaper that he would not be allowed on the school premises, pending the outcome of a trial.
The teenager was arrested for the murder of Northern Cape farmer Deon Steenkamp, 44, his wife Christelle, 43, and daughter Marthella, 14, who were shot on the family farm Naauwhoek on April 6.
The chairman of the school's governing body said on Monday that "after careful consideration and consultation with a psychologist, the governing body has decided that, in the interest of all parties - including the boy - it is inappropriate for him to be allowed at the school or in his hostel".
He said the boy remained a pupil at the school, and his academic progress was important, so the boy would possibly be assisted with home schooling, and provided with study material.
Stoffel de Jager, the boy's lawyer, said he and the school's governing body would have a telephone conference later on Monday to discuss the particulars of home tuition.
