Soweto, the heartbeat of the nation, is a must for those who want a great time out.

One Saturday afternoon, a friend and I ended up at Sedibeng Pub and Restaurant in Meadowlands.

Inside the Ubuntu Kraal, the dance area of the venue, the kwaito beats immediately got us grooving. While we were drinking beer and eating our braai meat and pap with gravy, sexy dancers entertained us.

Outside, the pub is designed to look like an African hut, but the interior is plush and we lounged on leopard print couches drinking brandy, surrounded by uKhamba [traditional African drinking vessels], used to decorate the floors.

Celebrity hosts and performances are held on regular pub nights, and a mix of locals and tourists always arrive for the weekly Sunday party.

If you go to Sedibeng Pub with a large group, you should book a dance floor table. If your group is 30 or more, ask your host if the side room is available. There is a dress code.
