Fourteen people were killed when a minibus taxi and a truck collided in Bronkhorstspruit on Wednesday afternoon, Tshwane emergency services said.

All of the 14 people were in the taxi, which broke into two pieces, spokesman Johan Pieterse said.

Two people sustained critical injuries and another one was in a serious condition. The injured were being treated at the scene and would be taken to nearby hospitals. Paramedics did not rule out the possibility that the death toll might rise.
