British honeymoon murder suspect Shrien Dewani, 33, yesterday launched an attempt to take his case to the Supreme Court after UK judges ruled he should be extradited to South Africa.
He is accused of masterminding the killing of his Swedish wife Anni, in Gugulethu, Cape Town, in November 2010.
Dewani's lawyers, who argued that his mental health is too fragile, lodged an application at the High Court for judges John Thomas and Duncan Ouseley to certify that their ruling raised "a point of law of general public importance" for consideration by the Supreme Court.
The judges had said it was plainly in the interests of justice that he should be extradited as soon as he was fit.
