Five people have been shortlisted to fill a vacancy on the SABC board, Parliament's portfolio committee on communications said on Friday.

In a meeting on Wednesday, the committee chose five of 11 candidates to be interviewed on Tuesday.

The post became vacant after Noluthando Gosa resigned from the board in November.

Committee chairman Sikhumbuzo Kholwane thanked Gosa for her contributions and wished her well in her future endeavours.

The shortlisted candidates are:
- Leah Thabisile Khumalo
- Vuyelwa Qinga-Vika
- Chose Andrew Kenilworth Choeu
- Ntombenhle Khathwane
- Rammutlana Boelie Sekgala

Kholwane said the committee would do its best to fill the vacancy before the end of Parliament's last term for the year.
