A man whose wife left him for another woman heads the anti-gay group Texas Values, according to a report.

Court records indicate that Jonathan Saenz's former wife, Corrine Morris Rodriguez Saenz, is a member of the LGBT community who was dating another woman when she filed for divorce from Saenz in August 2011, the gay news website Lone Star Q reported.

During the divorce proceedings, Saenz unsuccessfully sought to permanently bar his wife's girlfriend from being in the presence of their children, records show.

At one point, he also sought to have his former wife jailed for failing to undergo an evaluation by a psychologist of his choosing - even though he refused to pay the psychologist's $2500 fee.

Saenz became president of Texas Values in early 2012 and led the anti-gay group in lobbying against same-sex marriage.

Texas Value also lobbies against the passage of LGBT-inclusive non-discrimination ordinances in San Antonio and Houston.

Saenz helped push an amendment to the 2014 Texas Republican platform endorsing the discredited practice of gay conversion therapy.
