Ministerial egos, cops about to shoot each other and a taxi taking the gap. Could be just another day on the mean streets of Jozi, but this time it's fiction.

The people who brought you a lonely Robert Mugabe missing his dictator friends are now tackling the notorious blue-light brigades.

Chicken fast-food chain Nando's has a new ad out. The minister of inland fisheries, the minister of stationary and several other ministers are travelling in their blue-light convoys. The convoys all converge on an intersection at the same time. No one can pass and the escorting traffic police start threatening one another. Suddenly there are gunshots and the cops hit the ground as a backfiring minibus taxi mounts the pavement to get past.

"Nando's fire it up" the kicker line to the ad says.

The new ad takes on South African stereotypes and has been well received on social media.

"It's funny 'cause it's true," tweeted Suzani.

As yet, no word from the blue lighters, the cops or the taxi associations.
