Bafana star Meyiwa shot dead

Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead on the East Rand last night.

The shooting is believed to have been crime-related. Details were still sketchy at the time of going to press last night.

Meyiwa, 27, was in goal on Saturday when Pirates beat Ajax Cape Town 4-1 in a Telkom Knockout quarterfinal match at Orlando Stadium, Soweto.

He is the second sports star to die tragically in three days. On Friday, Olympics champion Mbulaeni Mulaudzi was killed in a car crash.
