A man wanted for two murders that took place at the Jabulani Hostel in Soweto has been arrested, Johannesburg police said on Saturday.

"On Friday night, we arrested a 29-year-old man wanted for a murder that occurred in March and another that occurred on Christmas Day," said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.

He said the arrest was made after police received information that the man was at the Jabulani Hostel where the murders had taken place.

The man who was killed on Christmas Day was from Zondi, Soweto and the man murdered in March from KwaZulu-Natal.

In both cases, the attacker stabbed them to death.

Makhubela said the motive from the crime was not yet known but investigations continued.

The arrested man will appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Monday.
