There is something satisfying about watching a new television series deliver on its hype.

The new comedic drama, aYeYe, on DStv's Vuzu Amp, is sure to fill many of our Monday evenings for the next 12 weeks.

aYeYe follows the trials and tribulations of three friends JK (Thapelo Mokoena), Neo (Sthembiso 'SK' Khoza) and Lebo (Mpho 'Popps' Modikoane), who live together in downtown Johannesburg and work as creatives at a big advertising agency.

Here's what we learned from the pilot episode:

1. LOTS OF SEX PLEASE, WE'RE LIBIDINOUS BACHELORS: The show came with a 16 rating for good reason. Don't watch this with your folks or children. Klutzy Lebo aside, JK and Neo will sleep with anything that has a pulse. Khoza is caught having sex by his child and baby mama, and celebrates winning an advertising award by going stark naked on a balcony.

2. #BRINGBACKOUR-QONDI? Jessica Nkosi plays the sexually aware Eve - a confidante to JK.

Those who saw her on Mzansi Magic soapie, Isibaya, were taken aback by her cocksure English.

@Trapboyyy said: "She should STAY a country girl. The city is not for her."

3. CELEBS GALORE: The pilot also saw the return of Zola 7 who, despite not uttering a word, made for a menacing presence. The show reunites him with Bomb production house, which gave him his big break in Yizo Yizo.

4. STRIKE WHILE THE IRON IS HOT: Less than 24 hours after the show's premiere, comic Modikoane, who narrated the episode and was given leeway to deliver self-written monologues, announced that he was launching a one-man show called Exhibit A on February 28 at the Lyric Theatre in Gold Reef City.

  • aYeYe is on Mondays at 9pm on Vuzu Amp, Dstv channel 114.
