When future generations look back on the "global warming scare" of the past 30 years, they will be shocked to learn that the official temperature records were systematically "adjusted" to show the earth as having warmed much more than the actual data justified.
Anti-climate change activist Paul Homewood recently stated on his Notalotofpeopleknowthat blog that the published temperature graphs for three weather stations in Paraguay were changed.
In each case, the actual trend of 60 years of data had been reversed from a cooling trend to one that showed a marked warming, he says.
Homewood then checked a swathe of other South American stations and found the same suspicious one-way "adjustments".
The changes were first made by the US government's Global Historical Climate Network and then amplified by two leading organisations, the Goddard Institute for Space Studies and the National Climate Data Centre , Homewood said, adding that these are the records on which the world relies for its understanding of global warming .
He has now looked at weather stations across much of the Arctic. Again, in nearly every case, he said, one-way adjustments have been made to show warming up to 1C or higher than was actually recorded.
According to Homewood, Traust Jonsson, who formerly ran Iceland's climate research, was amazed to see the new records completely "disappear" Iceland's "sea ice years" around 1970, when a period of extreme cooling almost devastated his country's economy.
Homewood also claimed that Arctic ice retreat is affected by warmer water brought in by cyclical shifts in a major Atlantic current which last peaked at just the time 75 years ago when Arctic ice retreated even further than it has done recently.
