So how did that New Year diet resolution go?
Stop beating yourself up. Studies in the US show that 75% of diets are ditched within a month and, according to psychologist Professor Brian Wansink, it's not our fault - it's our tempting kitchens, restaurants and shops.
Wansink says the trend can be reversed, not by eating less, but by always eating a salad before the main course, eating off smaller plates, only having a fruit bowl in view and keeping vegetables handy for snacking.
