A baby that had been dumped in a bin was run over when the bin was thrown into traffic during a taxi protest in the Durban city centre on Tuesday morning. Rescue Care paramedic Garrith Jamieson‚ who was dispatched to the scene of the protest‚ was horrified at what he witnessed on Aliwal Street at 11am."People who had been looting and striking had thrown a concrete bin in the roadway. The bin had broken and inside the bin was a infant wrapped up in a blanket. The infant was then run over by passing cars.""Paramedics assessed the baby‚ who was only an infant‚ and sadly declared the little infant deceased on the scene‚" he said. His colleague Ceron Lennox‚ a mother and a paramedic with years of experience‚ said it was one of the worst cases she had ever had to attend to.“I am horrified at the way this little child has died. Mothers need to realise that there are places that can help you should you need help raising the child or if the child is sick. People always ask me what is the worst thing you have seen as a paramedic...“This is one of them.”Police are on scene and are investigating further. – The Times
