SA gay men amongst the most satisfied

South African gay men have emerged as amongst the happiest in the world in an online survey conducted by online dating site Planet Romeo and Germany's Johannes Gutenberg University in Germany. The Gay Happiness Index surveyed 115‚000 gay men across the world‚ with South Africa scoring 63 out of 100 points on the index‚ which placed SA 22nd out of 127 surveyed countries.The survey quizzed gay men on how they considered public opinion on gay men‚ public behaviour towards gay men and how satisfied gay men were with their lives.A total of 252 SA gay men who took part in the survey rated satisfaction with their lives at 71 points for life satisfaction‚ 61 for public behaviour towards gay men and 57 for public opinion on gay men.South Africa beat United Kingdom (23)‚ United States (26)‚ Portugal (33)‚ Brazil (39) and Mexico (32) on the index. The top five countries where gay men are the happiest are Iceland at 79 points‚ Norway at 77‚ Denmark at 76‚ Sweden and Uruguay at 73 points.The most miserable countries for gay men are Uganda at the bottom of the list‚ followed by Sudan‚ Ethiopia‚ Kyrgyzstan and Iraq. - RDM new Wire, The Times..
