Joyride over for skipper Spies

The Bulls' "rollercoaster" Super rugby season was not what their departing senior players had hoped for, erstwhile captain Pierre Spies said. Spies admitted that rumours swirling around coach Frans Ludeke's job ahead of their final match of the season against the Cheetahs also disrupted the players in their 29-42 defeat to the Free State team."We would be lying if we said that it didn't," he said."It was a different week not knowing what was happening and with all the players moving on. So, everybody was aware of it and it was quite difficult."Spies, Francois Hougaard, Flip van der Merwe, Jacques-Louis Potgieter and Jacques du Plessis are all leaving the Bulls and going to Japan or France.Spies's senior career with the Bulls began in 2005. "I'm really proud of having been a Bull, but - the best way to describe this season is a rollercoaster ride," he said...
