Pretoria 'prophet' Penuel Mnguni's animal cruelty case for feeding his congregation live snakes has been postponed - as officials try to find a suitable date for his next court appearance.

According to EWN The SPCA’s Mishack Matlou says that there are also allegations that the pastor fed rats to his congregation on Sunday.

Mnguni, who heads the End Times Disciples Ministries in Soshanguve, was arrested on charges of animal cruelty after pictures went viral showing him feeding a live snake to his congregation.

Some of his minders hurled insults as journalists as he went to court.

The snakes were apparently street food - the pastor didn't keep animals, he just picked them up wherever he found them. He also apparently did similarly with lizards.

Mnguni is currently out on bail.
