Children lose father in shooting

Thandayiphi Cwele's two children returned from their South Coast school holiday to an empty room at the notorious Glebelands Hostel in Umlazi on Sunday night. Their 45-year-old father, whom they lived with so they could be close to school, was the latest victim of the turf war at the hostel.Community activist Vanessa Burger said Cwele had previously survived two attempts on his life, received threats, had had to flee his room and had allegedly suffered police torture.
