Manenberg cool over precinct makeover

An ambitious plan unveiled yesterday to revitalise gang-ravaged Manenberg has been cautiously welcomed by community groups, who raised concern about a lack of consultation. Western Cape premier Helen Zille and mayor Patricia de Lille yesterday revealed a project dubbed "Violence Prevention through Urban Upgrading ", saying it was aimed at reducing crime and improving the lives of Manenberg residents.
