Police confirm resignation of ex crime intelligence boss

The former acting head of the South African Police Service’s Crime Intelligence division‚ Major-General Chris Ngcobo‚ who was placed on special leave in October last year owing to an alleged discrepancy regarding his academic qualifications‚ has resigned‚ the SAPS confirmed at the weekend. It tweeted on Saturday: “#sapsHQ 1/6 We wish to place on record that we have parted ways with the former Acting Head of Crime Intelligence‚ Maj Gen Chris Ngcobo. DD”“#sapsHQ 2/6 Mr Ngcobo resigned from the SAPS after being placed on special leave since Oct 2013 following discovery of a discrepancy. DD‚” it stated in a second tweet‚ and‚ in another: “#sapsHQ 3/6 in his academic qualification in respect of his matric certificate‚ which emerged during a vetting process. His resignation.
