Cops and robbers? Krugersdorp detectives arrested while robbing clothing store

Two police detectives and two accomplices have been arrested while allegedly robbing a clothing store in Krugersdorp. Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said that police had responded to an alert about a robbery in progress at the clothing shop on Monday during which the victims were threatened with firearms and tied up with cable ties. They arrested the alleged robbers inside the shop‚ only to discover that two of them were police detectives.Further investigation revealed that another of the suspects was an employee at the shop wile the fourth turned out to be a relative of one of the policemen.The suspects will appear in the Krugersdorp’s Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges of robbery.“Departmental steps will also be taken against the police officers‚” Col Dlamini said.“Police management in Gauteng is also concerned and is taking a strong action against police officers who are corrupt and involved in criminal activities. Those officers are a burden to the South African Police Service‚” he added...
