Premier backs merging DA enclave with ANC municipalities

Gauteng Premier David Makhura has tacitly endorsed the formation of a metropolitan municipality on the West Rand. Replying to questions yesterday in the provincial legislature, Makhura said: "In the medium to long term, we must consolidate the smaller municipalities, especially in the West Rand and Sedibeng, into metros.
