'Uber riding roughshod over legal requirements'

Taxi company Uber was yesterday taken to task by parliament for insisting on operating "without restrictions" and for failing to ensure that all its taxis are registered as metered taxis. Cape Town traffic police impounded almost 100 Uber vehicles in June because its drivers did not have public transport operating permits.
