Peanut gallery gets nasty about students

As students intensified their protests in Cape Town yesterday, unsavoury comments got social-media users hot under the collar. Craig Burger, who describes himself as the "owner, designer, app/site creator at CB Pursuits Mobile App design and website" tweeted: "Please keep a watchful eye out today. It seems that UCT is under some sort of baboon invasion. Please keep your windows up remember never feed wildlife."Zen@RJMalalane responded: "We want to eat this burger ... We like burgers. Does he come with fries? #FeesMustFall".Graydon Winkworth posted on Facebook: "Just a little advice to these protesters and so-called students ... You recently tried to bring your shit to my university at Stellenbosch ... Just remember the majority of us drive 4x4s and will not hesitate to flatten you."Milton Delo responded: "Reading your comments made me realise how stupid some of you are. Bunch of idiots. Go and read more on student protests that started in Germany in the last century."Neither Burger nor Winkworth could be reached for comment.Martin Viljoen, spokesman for Stellenbosch University, said Winkworth was no longer a student, having discontinued his studies earlier in the year."Such threats are uncalled for and are extremely insensitive towards especially students who experience financial difficulty. Comments like these contribute further to the polarisation of the student community," Viljoen said...
