#RapeAtAzania outrage as UCT student raped
A Gender Studies student at UCT and member of the #FeesMustFall said, on Facebook, that she was raped by a fellow member of the movement according to a report.
According to IOL the rape happened at Avenue House in Mowbray (also known as Azania Hall).
“I was sleeping and then I wake up to feel fingers up my vagina,” she wrote in her Facebook post, which has since been deleted. “I then wake up to go cry in the bathroom and try and wake up the men in this space.”
“It takes moments of pleading and eventually me tipping over tables and f***ing s**t up before n*****s are able to wake up and come to the point of addressing the fact that a whole womyn [sic] body has been violated in the darkness of the night.”
She identified the man and his photograph have since been spread on social media, with commenter's seeking his address.
The rape has also triggered calls for the #Feesmustfall movement, and South Africa's protest culture in general, to address the patriarchy within it in order to prevent this happening again.
Here is why the revolution will not be happening. Because womyn STILL don't have a place where they are safe #RapeAtAzania

We simply cannot afford to say "racism now, patriarchy later" No. We can allocate our energies to ending both simultaneuously #RapeAtAzania

I honestly wish the #RapeAtAzania last night is the first time I've heard of sexual assault in our student movements. It's not.
