The Reserve Bank’s monetary policy committee (MPC) raised the repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.25% on Thursday‚ citing concerns over a weak rand and rising inflation. Of the 13 economists polled by BDpro‚ eight expected unchanged rates‚ while the rest had forecast a 25-basis-point increase.Inflation is now expected to average 4.
