Roll Up's success wraps up blazing year for eMtee

Award-winning hip-hop artist and rising star eMtee Da Hustla is on a roll, with no signs of slowing down as he continues to rack up accolades. Born Mtebeni Ndevu, eMtee has had a phenomenal year, with his smash hit Roll Up on rotation on radio stations and winning song of the year at the recent SA Hip Hop Awards.The catchy tune is in No2 spot on the local iTunes hip-hop/rap chart and his debut album Avery, named after his only child, second in the albums list.Adding to the 23-year-old's bragging rights is that he has been named as one of Apple Music's African artists to look out for in 2016, sharing the stage with internationally acclaimed acts such as Mary J Blige and Maxwell, after having performed at Saturday's BET Africa Experience.Of his monumental success this year, eMtee says he feels blessed."Mother Nature did best. This is the only thing I've ever wanted to do. I always knew I was going to be here."While he's confident in his overall success, he says he could never have imagined that Roll Up would be as big as it is."I never, ever expected it to be so big. The song was a street- style song that I was trying out and I didn't really write anything down."He says fans could one day see him in films or on television as he has hidden acting skills that he plans to showcase in the future."I've also done visual art, dance and graffiti. I'm an all-round artist and I want people to see that," he says...
