Bar blaze bolt from the blue

Gautengers' love of the outdoors has just got a whole lot "dryer". A lightning bolt incinerated a vital source of ice-cold beer when it struck the bar perched at the top of the Hartbeespoort cableway in the Magaliesberg.The lightning hit the bar's wooden deck on Saturday night during a severe storm, which had come as welcome relief from the heat wave.Hundreds of people continued to use the cableway yesterday unaware of the problem on top.Although no injuries were reported, staff members and thirsty volunteers were too late to save the bar and its stock.Staff have, however, promised that beers and other cold beverages will be available this week...
