Student leaders sidelined from today's meeting with Higher Education minister Blade Nzimande have vowed to continue protesting. #FeesMustFall members in Johannesburg threatened there would be no local elections this year without the guarantee of free education.Activist Busisiwe Seabe said: " Free education is now a right. No free education, no elections."Nzimande will meet student representative council leaders near Tembisa today after Wits and University of Pretoria campuses were shut down on Monday by protesters."SRCs don't represent us," said Alex Hotz, a #RhodesMustFall member from UCT."The movements were never led by SRCs and meeting with them is a divide and rule tactic."University of Western Cape SRC leader Akona Landu said it was difficult to consult students because many had not returned from holiday.Higher Education Department spokesman Khaye Nkwanyana said SRCs were elected by students to represent them."If they are recognised by universities and are in compliance with their statutes then the minister will happily meet with them."
