Township-based businesses to get 30% of Gauteng’s procurement spend

The Gauteng Provincial Government will be giving 30% of its procurement spend to township-based businesses. This‚ the Department of Economic Development said on Friday‚ will see government departments having to “prioritise purchases of goods and services below R500 000 towards township economy”.For the procurement of goods and services above that threshold‚ “departments must identify commodities and projects where township suppliers can participate through sub-contracting‚ and joint ventures”.
