Limpopo woman finds abandoned newborn in pit toilet

A newborn baby girl was found abandoned in a pit toilet in Nthabiseng in Morebeng on Sunday morning,  Limpopo police said.

Colonel Ronel Otto said a woman was going to the toilet when she heard a child crying from inside the pit. She then called the police.

When the police arrived they called paramedics and police divers, who rescued the baby girl.

The baby was taken to the Botlokwa hospital and was doing well. 

Otto said the mother was not known.
